Lunchbox Notes

Terms

Last updated 2026-10-21

These terms are the agreement between you and Sailstead LLC, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, which runs Lunchbox Notes (“we”), when you use the app or this website. By using them you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy. We wrote them in plain words; if something is unclear, ask us.

Who can use it

  • Grown-ups create accounts. You need to be 18 or older to create one.
  • Kids use Lunchbox Notes on a device that their parent or guardian sets up with a code. A kid doesn’t have an account of their own. Kids’ lunchboxes are for kids who are 13 or older. The grown-up who sets up a kid’s lunchbox must be the kid’s parent or legal guardian, confirms that the kid is 13 or older, and is responsible for how their kid uses the app.

Your account

  • One account per email address. Keep your email safe: anyone who can read it can sign in as you.
  • Codes and links are like keys. Your connect code lets someone ask to be your friend (you still say yes). A kid’s device code lets a device join your kid’s lunchbox, so only give it to that device.
  • You are responsible for the devices you set up for your kids, and for what happens on them.

What you send

What you write, draw and photograph belongs to you. You give us permission to store it, turn it into the picture of the note, deliver it to the people you send it to, show it in notifications and the widget, and show it on a share page when you or the person who received it shares it. This permission ends when your content is deleted, except for what stays with the people you sent it to (see Deleting your account). We don’t use your content for anything else.

Only send what you have the right to share, and photos of other people only when they are happy for you to.

Be kind: the rules

Lunchbox Notes is for notes between people who care about each other, and kids use it. Don’t send anything that:

  • bullies, threatens, harasses or frightens someone;
  • is sexual, or is meant for adults only;
  • is violent, hateful or encourages harm;
  • tries to get a kid to share personal details, meet up, or keep secrets from their grown-up;
  • pretends to be someone else;
  • is spam or advertising;
  • is illegal where you or the person you send it to live.

Anything involving the sexual abuse or exploitation of children is removed and reported to the authorities.

Keeping people safe

  • A word filter. Notes and chat messages that a kid is part of (a kid wrote them, they go to a kid, or they are in the chat under such a note) are checked against our list of words that are not allowed, and are not sent if they contain one. Notes and messages between grown-ups aren’t checked this way, and drawings and photos can’t be, so blocking and reports matter.
  • Block. You can block anyone from their profile or from a note they sent you. New notes, messages and reactions between you stop. A grown-up’s block also covers their kids.
  • Report. You can report a person, a note, or a chat message. A person on our team looks at every report. A report keeps a copy of what was reported.
  • Pausing. If something you sent breaks these rules, we may pause your account. While it is paused you can still read everything, but what you send doesn’t go out. If you keep breaking the rules, or in serious cases, we may close your account.
  • Telling you why. When we act on your content or your account, we tell you what we did and why. If you think we got it wrong, write to us and a person will look at it again.

Reporting illegal content

Our point of contact for illegal content, for users and for authorities (including under the EU Digital Services Act), is contact@lunchboxnotes.app. You can write to us in English.

You don’t need an account. To help us act quickly, please include:

  • where the content is (whose note or message, and when it was sent; a screenshot helps);
  • why you think it is illegal;
  • your name and email address (you can leave them out for reports about child sexual abuse);
  • a statement that you believe what you are telling us is accurate and complete.

We confirm that we received your notice, look at it carefully, and tell you what we decided.

Shared notes

You can share a note as a link. Anyone who has the link can see the note, its words, the writer’s name and the date, for 30 days or until you tap Stop sharing. You are responsible for who you give the link to. Messaging apps may keep their own preview after the link stops working. A note a kid sent with a photo can’t be shared by link.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account at any time in the app: Profile → Delete account. It is closed at once and erased after 14 days; sign in during that time if you change your mind. Notes, reactions and chat messages you sent stay with the people who received them, from “Someone who left”. Deleting your account also deletes your kids’ lunchboxes. Details.

Changes to the service

We may change, add or remove features. If we ever shut Lunchbox Notes down, we’ll tell you in the app at least 30 days before, so you have time to save the notes you want to keep (you can share any note as a picture).

If something goes wrong

We work hard to keep Lunchbox Notes running and your notes safe, but we can’t promise it will always be available or free of mistakes, and notes or notifications may sometimes be late or lost.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses, or for losses caused by what other people send. Nothing in these terms limits our liability where the law doesn’t allow it to be limited, for example for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for intent or gross negligence. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have as a consumer under the law where you live.

The law that applies

These terms are governed by the law of the State of Nevada, USA, and disputes go to the courts of Clark County, Nevada. If you live in the EU or the UK, you also keep the protection of your own country’s consumer law and can go to your local courts.

Changes to these terms

When these terms change, we update this page and the date at the top. If a change matters, we tell you before it applies. If you keep using Lunchbox Notes after that, the new terms apply.
